About Mateo Vandamia…

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. I started playing football at 6 years old & it’s been 18 years and counting. I graduated from West Allegheny High School in 2019, went on to play at the University of Delaware where I graduated with a degree in Health Behavior Sciences with a minor in Strength and Conditioning. Entered the transfer portal as a grad student and played my final season at the University of New Hampshire.

Experience:

Started as a sophomore at tight end. That year we went on to win the WPIAL championship. I finished the season with 36 catches, 542 yards, and 6 TDs. Junior year, I finished the year earning All Conference honors for both offense and defense. Following the season I had a total of 14 Division 1 scholarships. Senior year, I earned the role as a captain. We made it to the championship and I finished the season with 355 receiving yards, 14 sacks, 1 interception, 95 tackles, and 6 TDs. I earned a number of awards for that year as shown in the photo below. Following the season I committed to the University of Delaware.

I also played rugby throughout high school with the exception of junior year due to injury. I started all 3 other years and became one of the top 50 players in the nation by my senior year.

High School:

At the University of Delaware I started as the tight end, full back, Hback, and some running back for my first 3 seasons. I moved to linebacker for my final 2 seasons. Throughout my time at UD, I’ve played in big games, at big stages, and made plays on both sides of the ball in big moments. I entered the transfer portal after my 5th season where I earned 12 more Division 1 scholarships and committed to the University of New Hampshire. Although my final collegiate season was cut short due to injury, I still had a successful impact defensively.
